Broad Spectrum Antibiotic for Dogs and Cats Powder for Oral Suspension preparation

COMPOSITION

Each 10 ml contains:
Amoxicillin Trihydrate  500 mg
Clavulanic Acid as (potassium clavulanate)
125 mg

CONTRAINDICATIONS & WARNINGS:

  • The use of this drug is contraindicated in animals with a history of an allergic reaction to any of the penicillin or cephalosporins.

  • Do not use for animals maintained for breeding purposes as safety has not been established. In case of anaphylaxis, administer epinephrine.

INDICATIONS

Clavodern is a broad-spectrum antibiotic for dogs and cats used for treatment of urinary tract infections (cystitis), soft tissue infections, wounds, abscesses, cellulitis, superficial and deep pyoderma due to susceptible of bacteria such as:
Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp., and E. coli.
Clavodern also used to treat gingivitis associated with periodontal infections due to susceptible strains of aerobic and anaerobic bacteria.

TO PREPARE THE ORAL SUSPENSION:

  • Shake the bottle to loosen the powder.

  • Add approximately purified water to the half of bottle and shake vigorously until the powder becomes wet.

  • Add the remaining purified water to fill the bottle and shake vigorously again until a homogeneous suspension is obtained.

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION

For Dogs: – For treatment of skin and soft tissue infections: give 12.5 mg/kg twice daily for – 5 – 7 days. Continue for 48 hours after symptoms disappear.

  • For treatment of gingivitis: give 13.75 mg/kg twice daily for 10 – 7 days. Continue for 48 hours after symptoms disappear.
    Stop the treatment if no response is observed after 5 days of treatment and re-evaluate the case.

  • For treatment of urinary tract infections: give 12.5 mg/kg twice daily for 14 – 10 days or longer depending on severity.

  • Deep pyoderma may require treatment for 21 days.
    Maximum treatment period is 30 days and does not exceed this duration.

For Cats: – For treatment of skin and soft tissue infections: give 62.5 mg (1 ml) twice daily per cat for 7 – 5 days. Continue for 48 hours after symptoms disappear.
Stop the treatment if no response is observed after 3 days of treatment and re-evaluate the case.

  • For treatment of urinary tract infections: give 62.5 mg (1 mL) twice daily per cat for 14 – 10 days or longer depending on severity.
    Maximum treatment period is 30 days and does not exceed this duration.
